Andi Pupato – percussion
As part of the presentation tour of their new, exciting album ”Black Light”, the 4 amazing musicians forming SONAR group, will arrive for the first time in Romania, alongside Andi Pupato, already known to our audience as member of Nik Bärtsch’s Ronin.
We will witness an avant-progressive, post-minimal performance, with explosive moments, due, among others, to the presence of an unusual rhythmic section, which added to the classical bass and drums, the percussion.
Their name stands for SONic ARchitecture, which alludes to their intention of creating polimetric and highly structured sound sculptures.
Fusing a rigorous minimal esthetic with the power of a rock band, SONAR create sonic rituals unlike anything you have ever heard before. With their slow-build approach to dramaturgy and avoidance of conventional forms, they focus on collective group efforts and a deeper kind of interaction amongst their members.
“This is one terrific album (n. ”Black Light”) that should absolutely not be missed – mathematical music that still manages to touch the heart and soul, even as the group’s four members are some of the most focused and selfless players you’ll hear this – or any other – year.” John Kelman (All About Jazz)
“Black Light has enough energy stored in it to power a small Midwestern town for the foreseeable future and isn’t easy to categorize, but it’s hard to turn off….every track is a small masterpiece.” (www.the-ear.net)
